MY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
My personal philosophy of education may be summed up in the United Negro College Fund's motto, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." As one who has a vast amount of experience working with at-risk youth, I am fully persuaded that every child can learn and be successful in an educational setting when provided the right tools to use and when shown the respect and the support that they need. A student should be given the opportunity to maximize his potential and to be equipped to enter through any post secondary door he chooses whether that door leads to college, the military, or the workforce. As educators, we fail to do our jobs if any student graduates without the right key. As educators, we have failed the students when we put our needs and desires before the best interest of our customers, the students. As individuals called to serve in the educational field, it is our responsibility and our commission to prepare each student for his or her destiny.
